MSA Grading Sunday 8th March 2015

Muay Thai Grading was created when Master Sken, Master Toddy and Master Woody arrived in the UK in 1977, teaching Muay Thai & found a need to assess and grade their students abilities in the sport.
A syllabus was created & used the Prajeat/ Kuang Rang (Arm Band) where other sports were using belts. Historically the Armband was presented to warriors going to battle by their Masters. The Armband has been thought of as a talisman - a good luck charm to keep you, the fighter, safe during battle.
The modern day fighter still wears the Arm Band, usually presented to him by his Grand Master - Master or teacher. More recently the Muay Thai practitioner can be awarded his or her arm band through an assessment process called Rank. Each rank is awarding a student on his/her ability to show the technique clearly executing balance power speed and accuracy. The student will need to show that they have a good attitude and are humble and loyal towards their art and their Master.

The first Grading assessment of 2015 will take place at MSA HQ on Sunday 8th March. The Grading will begin at 12noon, though you are invited to come and use the gym to practice before the grading begins.

Grading Classes are held at MSA HQ on Wednesdays 6-7pm.
